HOTEL CAFE - Record Release recap.
i just wanted to take a quick moment and share some thoughts on my biggest day so far this year. The record release show in Los Angeles for “Lay It All Down”, my new album. (in case you’ve been living under a rock)
Despite the random and reckless approach “us” artists like to convey, it was at least 2 months in the planning. Sounds like a lot of time for one show right? Yes, but it was worth the effort, rehearsals and snacks bought for hungry musicians. I tend to over-plan, overshoot and run around in circles so much that I dont realize whether the dizziness is from that or lack of sleep. In my case it was also from too much coffee.
I had the cd’s and the vinyl ready to go…and not to mention some cool tees and swag (as seen above on my good friend Kaela and Jon Kinney who helped sell some stuff on the night). Despite everything being in check, it’s the level of perfection I think I was seeking in the show and from my incredible band that we actually may have pulled off. Im always proud of what I do as a performer…but I was really, so proud of my band that night. Thanks to Paul Redel, Matt Reyes, Brad Lindsay, Adam Hanson, Mark McKee and Ruby BC. And to my guests, Gabby Gordon, Nina Storey, Noah Needleman and Connie Lim…you were all amazing.
I feel like the show was probably the best I’ve played to date. unfortunately the venue doesn’t allow for filming or I’d be posting video footage here. If you need to watch something, I have attached a cat video to watch. As for me, I feel like Im ready to go tour the album for realsies now. Thanks again to Howard Willing for being so great to work with on producing the album. Really amazing swift kicks to my behind when i wasn’t pulling my weight. Well played. Thanks again and enjoy some photos by Mickey Yeh.
